Scout Group Treasurer – Vacancy (Volunteer)
 
Do you have a good head for numbers without losing sight of the big picture? If so, we could use your talents to help transform the lives of young people in Uttoxeter Scouts.
 
Uttoxeter Scout Group now need a strong team player with excellent judgement, analytical and organisational skills along with good communication skills to join our Trustee Board.
 
What other skills do I need?
 
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to think creatively and solve problems
  • Previous experience of financial management or the role of a Charity Treasurer
  • Able to analyse financial information effectively
  • Ability to summarise financial information for different audiences
  • Willing to speak one’s mind and listen to the views of others
  • Able to maintain independent and objective judgement
  • Track payments and inform leaders of those that have paid
  • Invoicing and support of the building bookings

We’ll provide excellent training and support.

 
You will help manage and monitor the financial activities of the Group, acting as Treasurer. You will prepare and present financial reports and accounts and while supporting budgets and financial planning process in accordance with legal regulations.
 
The Treasurer will be supported by a team of Group Trustees , the Group Chair and the Group Lead Volunteer
 
This role is mainly strategical accounting as well as the day to day book keeping.
 
With excellent IT Skills, knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, online banking and the ability to summarise and communicate complex financial information, you will also be willing and eligibility to act as a Charity Trustee.
 
This opportunity can be carried out whilst working from home, though periodic face to face attendance at Group Board of Trustees meetings will be required.

  • Good organisational and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of governance, safeguarding and/or charity operations (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to review information and contribute to strategic planning
  • A commitment to supporting young people and the values of Scouting
We’ll provide excellent training and support.
 
As a Trustee, you will help oversee the governance and strategic direction of the Group, ensuring it is well managed, financially sound and operating in line with charity law and Scout policies. You will support the development of the Group, help manage risk, and ensure resources are used effectively to deliver great Scouting locally.
 
Trustees work closely with the Group Chair and the Group Lead Volunteer, forming a supportive team focused on sustainability, growth and positive outcomes for young people.
 
This role is primarily strategic, focusing on oversight, governance and long-term planning rather than day-to-day operational delivery.
 
With good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft 365 and Teams, you will also need to be willing and eligible to act as a Charity Trustee.
