Voluntary groups are urged to send nominations for the Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2008. The award was created in 2002 as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations and intends to reward the 'unsung heroes of the voluntary and community world.' Those interested have until the end of the month to nominate volunteering groups that have made substantial contributions to society. More than 560 groups have received the distinction since 2002. Sports Unsung Hero 2007
Do you know someone who helps others take part in sport within your community? If so, why not nominate them for the BBC's search for 'Sports Unsung Hero of 2007'?
The BBC is looking for an individual who, on a voluntary basis, makes a difference to sport within the region. They must give their time and talents to enable others to participate in the sport in question. This may be in helping an individual, group, team or teams. The sport can be at any level. They must be someone who gains no financial reward for their time and they must be aged 16 years of over.
